SHŌNEN (YOUNG MEN)

Shōnen (Japanese: 少年,  translates to 'boy', 'young man', or 'minor') is a demographic term for manga and anime aimed at teenage boys. Despite this, Shōnen anime and manga have the widest audience among all the demographics, consumed by people of all ages.

Most people conflate Shōnen with 'battle Shōnen' or 'fighting Shōnen' series such as Dragon Ball and One Piece. However, it actually spans many different genres, with 'battle Shōnen' series just being the most popular among them.
